PERIOD III









DESCRIBE

I consider that my second and last class was very interesting and well developed. I started the class saying Hello to students and also with the warm-up activity. In the warm-up activity, students had to work in groups because they had to decode some sentences in passive voice using some codes, so it was a great activity and students enjoyed it. Then, I explained the Use of Passive Voice in Simple Past, so students were paying attention and I was explained with a poster the most important information about this important topic. Moreover, I developed some activities to make students practice this important topic; firstly, students had to pass a ball and the person who got the ball had to change a sentence from active voice to passive voice. Also, in the second activity students had to make groups because they had to create sentences in passive voice; I gave to each group a chart with some words and they had to create the sentences. I consider that the environment in the class was motivated because I noticed a different attitude from students; they were more enthusiastic at the moment to participate in the activities.

About the arrangement, in my opinion, I consider that everything was developed in the correct order, the activities and the grammar explanation. Moreover, students were worked in the appropriate environment and moment, so I think that the arrangement was the correct one. On the other hand, I decided to make some posters in order to develop the warm-up activity and the grammar explanation, also I used a ball to develop the second activity, and finally I created a chart with different words that students had to use to create sentences in passive voice (simple present and simple past).

ANALYZE

Interpret

I consider that students like to be part of activities in which they feel challenged because when they know that they can win a point or a gift, they feel more enthusiastic at the moment to participate and develop the activities.

So, I think that it is really important to reward the students when they work hard. In my case, I consider that I feel happy and motivated when a teacher gives a prize because of my effort. So, we can give students a candy, a point, a word of motivation, etc. 

It is important to reward students when they are working hard because if the teacher appreciates the effort of the students, they will feel motivated, so it means that they will perform their process of learning.

It helps a lot in students´ learning because when the teacher demonstrates an interest in their students, they will give the best in their studies. Imagine, if a teacher doesn´t give important to students´ effort, they will not fell motivated at the moment to work or perform their learning process.

Generalize

Based on what I already know about the development of activities in a class, I think that it is important to make activities as controlled, semi-controlled and free. I know that it is difficult  to develop these activities in one or two hours, but we have to create a short lesson plan to each class in order to develop these activities. 

Based on what I observed, I think students generally don´t give attention or importance to those activities in which they consider boring or difficult. It is important to motivate students to work in these activities; we know that exists many ways to develop activities in a class, so we can change.

I believe that a traditional class can hinder student learning because if the teacher doesn´t want to change activities or change the way to teach, students will not learn anything. So, it can be a good idea to develop different activities in order to motivate students to work hard, and also it is important to reward students’ effort.

PLAN ACTION

So, in the future, I will find the way to reward students´ effort, it can be with a point or a candy. I know that students feel motivated when they know that can receive something in exchange of their effort in their studies.

In future lessons, I will try to develop activities as controlled, semi-controlled and free because I know that when the teacher prepares activities in this order, students have the opportunity to develop the four macro-skills, and also they can enjoy the class. 

The next time, I teach this lesson, I will try not to give a lot of time to the warm-up activity because we give too much time to the warm-up activity, we don´t have time to develop the other activities. So, it is important to be organizing with the time.

In future experiences, I will also include a lesson plan in class because I learned that when we organize a class, we have a plan to follow, so we have a clear idea about what we want to do in a class.









DESCRIBE



I started my third period with a good attitude, so I think that my first class was good and great. At the beginning of the class, I noticed that students were a little bit shy; however, some minutes after they starting to participate and accepting me. I started the class with a warm-up and then with some activities, students were participating, creating sentences, and practicing. Moreover, students were working in groups, and practicing a conversation, so I consider that students were with a good attitude in the whole class. It is important to create the appropriate activities and explain in the best way. So, I as a teacher tried to develop the best activities according to the topic; also I tried to explain in the appropriate way to make students understand the topic. On the other hand, I think that the environment during the class was comfortable and great because students were paying attention and participating; moreover, I consider that the environment of the class was appropriate in this first class. 

About the arrangement of the class, I think that it was the correct one because students were organized in the class, and also they were working. Moreover, I could observe that everything was developing in the best way to make students learn and participate in the whole class. I decided to use some materials to develop my class; I decided to use some pieces of paper in the warm-up in order to make students create sentences, also I created a poster to make a review about previous information. Moreover, I created some sentences to make an activity in which students had to work in groups and organize some pieces of paper to make sentences, and finally I created a conversation to make students practice. 

ANALYZE

Interpreter

-I consider that the first class with a new group is always important because students have to feel comfortable and with a positive attitude. Sometimes, it is difficult to start classes with a new group, so the teacher has to have a good attitude, and also s/he has to prepare a great class.

-It is difficult to prepare an excellent class; however, it is important to develop the most appropriate activities in a first class because if students feel comfortable and motivated, they will have the same attitude in the other classes. The attitude of the teacher in the first class is really essential.

-As teachers, it is really important to have a good attitude in classes because if students see a good attitude from the teacher, they will feel comfortable and with motivation in the whole class.

-A good attitude helps a lot to students in their learning because if students have a good attitude, they will work, participate and pay attention in classes. At the beginning of the class, it is really difficult not to feel nervous; however, as teachers, we have to control everything and prepare ourselves with a positive attitude.

Generalize

- Based on what I already know about group work in class, I think that it is really important to make students work individually, but also in groups because if they work in this way, they learn from others. 

- Based on what I observed, I think students generally like to work in groups because they have the opportunity to share ideas, and also they help each other when the activities are difficult.

- I believe that group work can help students learning because when students work with others, they can assign roles between them, and also they can work in different tasks. Moreover, when students work in groups, they learn how to be organize, and how to take into account others opinions.

PLAN ACTION


- So, in the future, I will try to develop individual activities, and also group activities because if students work in different ways, they have the opportunity to learn more.

- In future lessons, I will motivate students to work with others. Sometimes, students don´t like to work with others because they don´t have confidence each other, but it is important to make students work with others, participate and learn.

-The next time I teach this lesson, I will organize all the activities in order to make students work in different ways. I think that it is important to make a variation with the activities in a class because students have more chance to develop their skills and also to learn from others.

-In future experiences, I will also include group activities. It is really common to create many individual activities, but sometimes we forget to develop group activities. So, I will try to make different activities in groups to make students feel well and learn more.
